Early Years, Coaching and Mentoring

Background Information:

I have been teaching for 9 years and worked in both KS1 (mixed and single year groups) and Foundation Stage. Prior to this I was deputy manager of a nursery and have also worked with children with disabilities.  I currently work in a 3 form entry school with 241 children on role and am EYFS and KS1 lead.  I am a full-time class teacher and also part of the Senior Leadership Team.

Support and Qualifications:

Early Years – (Degree in early years and education) Support can be provided in early year’s assessment, planning, provision, moderation and outside learning.
Mentoring – Mentoring courses completed at Bishop Grotteste University. NQT mentoring and coaching and ITT student mentoring.
KS1 lead – Support leads in monitoring and assessment processes and quality first teaching.

Most current work/experience:

My most current experience is in Early Years, with experience in leading KS1. I am a full time reception class teacher and am responsible for assessment and the collation and analysis of data. I then shared this information with the head teacher and SLT colleagues in order to support the school SDP. I am a part of the school senior leadership team and as such have involvement in performance management and pupil progress meetings. I have conducted staff training and organised collaborative moderation meetings. Most recently I liaised with other schools within a cluster in order to share a unique CPD opportunity. This was delivered by Shonette Bason.

Why you wanted to become an SLE:

I have a passion for enabling and developing people to become the best they can be which in turn creates the best outcomes for the children.  I strive to ensure that all children are given the best opportunities they can have, from quality first teaching to a stimulating environment from which they feel safe and secure and develop a love of learning.
